It seems the world has embraced a life of convenience through the way we eat, dress, and entertain. Lifes just busy, so we grab on the go! I certainly do, with a family, working and activites, it’s crazy busy and at times I look for a quick fix, but I like it to be an ethical one.

Being mindful and informed is always the best way to start, then it sits in your subconscious and eventually you act on it. I figured a great way to start is with your morning coffee/tea!

At some point in the day you may find yourself queuing for a takeaway coffee not realising that the paper cup you are about to drink from will have a massive consequence on our environment. With billions of cups used each year, that means goodbye to millions of trees and hello to tonnes of greenhouse gases.

“According to one study, on the environmental impacts of paper cups, each cup, taking into account the paper, the paper sleeve, production and shipping, emits about 0.11 kilograms of CO2.

Depending on forestry practices (and whether they are sustainable or not) paper cup production results in loss of trees, ecosystem degradation and a reduction in the planet’s carbon absorption capacity.

In our world of shrinking forests and growing landfill, continued use of the paper cup is both redundant and unsustainable.” -our word 2.0

Questions have also been raised about the plastic resin used inside the cups to provide its strength and the concerns about carcinogenic chemical leeching. I’ll have chemicals with my coffee thanks!

Watch this to help you make the change to a BYO cup. Yes, the production of a BYO cup will leave a small carbon footprint but one reuseable cup is better than hundreds of paper cups you potentially use in a year.

You can IMPROVE your environment NOW and grab the latest coloured 8oz cup here OR a 12oz cup here.

Now that’s a coffee with a conscience and remember REFILL it don’t LANDFILL it!
